Obama/McCain:Who won? Who cares? Ask yourself, “Who represents our hopes and dreams?”

I have my mail-in ballot. I think I might vote today. What’s there to wait for–the depression?

Last night’s debate was so lacklustre that it was clear we have entered into the defensive mode.  Obama can afford “the prevent D” a bit more than McCain. But just don’t  expect anybody to come up with many silver bullets for the No. 1 issue at this point: our economic well-being and the future.

Expecting that from these final debates is just unrealistic.  You can’t wonk it in from here. In fact, to hear the two on the economy was sort of pathetic. McCain more so.

The best that we can hope for in these debates is to see who shows up and best exudes a calm and a confidence under pressure. We’re in for rough times. Who is quickest and nimble enough to lead us?  And who will represent our community when it matters?

So how many Asian Americans did you see on the screen in any capacity during the debate?  If you want to make sure our hopes, dreams and interests are best represented, there’s just one person who will do that.

It should be clear by now. We didn’t go through that arduous  primary season for nothing. And when one campaign gets rough and negative in order to play catch up, it will be even clearer.

I have my ballot in hand. The debates so far only solidify my decision.

  1. Right now, we need less wonky talk. More soothing, soaring rhetoric. We have nothing to fear but bad debates and the mud-slinging of the final weeks. The country’s economics almost assures the race is Obama’s to lose. We need a little of the passion he had when he gave his race speeches during the J.Wright crisis. We need that kind of oratory, not more nuts and bolts economic talk which adds nothing. The country yearns for reassurance more than it does a flip 30 second idea to save Wall Street. That stuff will play it self out.
    Obama needs an FDR moment.
