West Virginia’s landslide for Hillary Clinton approximates the same overwhelming support Asian Americans have had for the former first lady.
The primary last night is a reminder to nay saying media who want to crown Obama now.
This process should go on.
It also makes this weekend’s APIAVote event even more important.
While community leaders from all over the country are planning to attend what’s being billed as the first national presidential town hall of its kind, so far there are no candidates.
McCain? He doesn’t care. Maybe he thinks all those Asians in one place might trigger a little PTD for the former POW.
But what about Obama and Clinton?
If Clinton wants to solidify her stature as the Asian American candidate of choice, she better show up. So far she’s the only one to express an interest. Let’s hope she follows through.
Obama? He’s already taking his victory lap and doesn’t seem to care.
He would be making a big mistake. Again.
Obama has already snubbed APAs once with that 80-20 questionnaire debacle, a communications faux pas where his camp refused to answer a simple survey on Asian American empowerment issues.
Another snub should reinforce the already growing notion of Obama’s sense of arrogance toward Asian Pacific Islander American voters.
