Praise for Nancy Pelosi: Pressuring China on Tibet

While I’ve had differences with Speaker Pelosi’ on the Filipino American vets issues, Ms. Pelosi is showing true leadership on the Tibet issue.

She’s one of the few politicians to speak out for human rights in light of last week’s crackdown by China on political activists in Lhasa.

Those events areĀ  a wake up call for all of us, including President Bush.

We can’t continue to play dumb and pretend “Wal-Mart capitalism” is merely a benign exercise in profit making.

It all helps to fuel the repression on display in Tibet.

If we value human rights as a country, the events of the day must bring us to the next pressure point for China.

It’s time to get serious about a boycott of the Olympics in Beijing.

  1. Pelosi and Congress are well funded and controlled by AIPAC, the Israeli lobby. No wonder she has never spoken up about human rights violations against the displaced Palestinians. Such hypocrisy and forked tongues!
